Nuclear Fuel

US-REGEN assumes that the cost of uranium as a fuel for nuclear power plants increases over time, consistent with a projected global increase in the use of nuclear energy, especially in China and other emerging economies. Current prices for nuclear fuel in the U.S. are roughly $0.70/mmbtu. By 2050, the assumed nuclear fuel price is roughly $1.70/mmbtu, although this remains a small component of the total costs of nuclear power.
